Prior to starting iiCON Construction, Greg was the project executive representing his former company during the construction of the new Center for Character & Leadership Development at the US Air Force Academy. Based on the relationships built with USAFA and the Endowment, iiCON Construction was approached November 2014 to provide budgeting for the proposed courtyard project located at the CCLD.
Through this effort, we were able to inform the Endowment that the proposed design would exceed their budget for this project. We proposed value engineering alternatives and the client was able to start the redesign process. As required, the project was rebid and iiCON put together the winning team for the courtyard project. Our team worked in association with the building team to coordinate our work. The complex lighting and fountain systems were well coordinated and installed in the winter months. Concrete paving, benches and trench drains were installed as weather permitted to ensure that the concrete would not settle or crack. Site logistics was a challenge. Our project team worked with our subcontractors on alternative ways to place topsoil through the use of a truck mounted blower system.
As a result of our efforts, the Endowment also awarded other ancillary projects including the donor recognition and interior signage for the facility as well as the construction of the video wall infrastructure and other miscellaneous projects. iiCON has become a trusted partner for the Endowment through our efforts.
