Giraffe Exhibit Expansion – Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
As part of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Elevate Projects campaign, iiCON Construction is proud to support Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in a transformative expansion of its giraffe exhibit. Scheduled for completion in Spring 2025, this phase doubles the size of the existing outdoor giraffe yard, providing a larger bull yard and open space for natural movement and exercise.
The project includes the addition of nine strategically placed giraffe feeding stations across the expanded yard and barn, enhancing crowd flow and creating immersive guest experiences. Adjacent developments include a new vulture aviary and habitat exhibits for red river hogs, tortoises, and porcupines. The newly constructed outdoor aviary features a renovated Baobab tree centerpiece, integrated indoor/outdoor perching areas for vultures, and a heated alcove within a termite mound to house the African Cape porcupine.
This initiative not only improves animal welfare and exhibit functionality but also enriches guest engagement by bringing them closer to wildlife in a safari-style environment.
